Cancer charity t-shirts go on sale

A LIMITED-EDITION t-shirt has gone on sale in Hartlepool to raise money for three cancer charities.

Smith and Graham have teamed up with the town’s Ceremonial Mayor, Councillor Stephen Akers-Belcher to produce the unique t-shirts which feature the famous Hartlepool monkey legend in the design along with the words POOL TOGETHER TO BEAT CANCER.

The attractive t-shirts are priced at just £5 and all of the proceeds will be divided between MacMillan Cancer Support, Pansies Breast Cancer Support Group and The Denise Taylor Cancer Trust.

Hartlepool Mayor, Councillor Stephen Akers-Belcher, said: “Thanks to the generosity of Smith and Graham Solicitors, all of the proceeds from the sale of the t-shirts will go to my three nominated cancer charities.

“Before we designed the t-shirt I asked lots of local people what they would like to see on it and the Hartlepool monkey was a clear winner. We’ve also incorporated a strong message to reflect the ongoing scientific efforts to beat cancer.

“I hope the t-shirts prove to be popular and that people wear them with pride to spread the message that together we can beat cancer.”

Steven Horsley, Partner with Smith and Graham Solicitors, commented: “The company is always striving to support the local community and we are delighted to play our part in helping to raise money for three extremely worthy causes".

Hartlepool and District Hospice Make a Will Month

Once again, Smith and Graham are proud to support the Hartlepool and District Hospice Make a Will Month Scheme during May 2013. During the month of May we will be supporting the campaign by assisting people in making wills free of charge if they in turn make a donation towards the work of the Hartlepool Hospice.

Rebecca Jobson from Hartlepool Hospice had this to say “Your donations make a huge difference to a person approaching the end of their life.  Last year over £2,000 was raised through Make a Will Month.  This is equivalent to a whole week specialist care and could only be possible with your help.  Making a Will is something we often put off but the peace of knowing that your affairs are all in order is really quite satisfying”.

Andrew Blair, Head of Probate, said “Here is an opportunity for people to get around to making a will at the same time as benefitting such a worthwhile local charity. We are proud to be able to support the invaluable work of the Hospice and hope that we can contribute towards raising even more funds than last year”.
